IEEE India Council Industry Academia Young Professionals Committee (IAYPC) - 2025

ABOUT IAYPC

The IEEE India Council Industry-Academia Young Professionals Committee (IAYPC), initiated in 2023, is a national-level initiative dedicated to fostering meaningful collaboration between industry and academia, with a strong focus on empowering young professionals, students, and faculty across India.

Formed under the aegis of the IEEE India Council, IAYPC brings together experts and volunteers from both industry and academia to streamline engagement across IEEE Sections in India. The committee acts as a central hub to support, design, and execute programs that promote innovation, skill development, and career growth. It works in close coordination with the India Council and local Sections to implement impactful activities that drive industry-academia synergy and contribute to national development goals.

In 2025, IAYPC continues to build on the momentum of previous years with a fresh vision, new programs, and deeper engagement opportunities.

Industry Academia Young Professionals Committee - 2025 AIORI-2 Train the trainer Workshop (July, 2025) A joint initiative of IIFON and IEEE India Council

IIFON and IEEE India Council are organizing a two month long National Level Hackathon, scheduled to kickstart with a pan-India National Workshop in the second week of August 2025. The objective is to create awareness about the world of Internet engineering, standards development, and measurement. The National Workshop is expected to attract participation from around 150 colleges and overall, 3000 students across India. To make students aware of event and to train them with necessary technical competency, a one-day faculty workshop will be conducted in selected 10 cities spread across five zones. These faculty workshops are jointly organized by IEEE India Council and IIFON as part of the community development initiative under the Advanced Internet Operations Research in India (AIORI) project, which is supported by NIXI and MeitY, Government of India. We are currently looking for venues to host these workshops in selected cities in each zone.

Faculty participants in these workshops will gain valuable insights into key Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) such as IETF, IEEE, and W3C. They will also learn how to engage with these bodies and understand the academic and professional benefits of participation. Each participant will be enrolled in the AIORI Ambassadors Program, and upon completion of the AIORI-2 edition, will graduate as an AIORI Ambassador. As part of this role, they will:

  • Host an AIORI Anchor
  • Organize a one-day National Internet Standards workshop for students
