Call for PGCIL Award nominations/ Applications

Purpose of the Award

 For recognizing outstanding individual contributions to Indian Power Sector, IEEE India Council (https://site.ieee.org/indiacouncil/) and POWERGRID (www.powergrid.in) have jointly instituted coveted National Awards titled “POWERGRID and IEEE India Council (IC) Awards for Excellence” in the following two categories

Category-1 - General category

For engineers (Indian citizens only) who are professionally active (with no age limit).

Category- 2 - Young Engineer Category

For engineers (Indian citizens only) up to 35 years age (as on 1st December 2023)

Nominees shall have significant and exceptional individual contributions in last 5 years in any of the following areas: Power System Operation and Control, Asset Management, Power equipment design and development  and New Technologies, Renewable Energy Integration, Digital Power System including Smart Grid Smart, and Cyber security. One award shall be given in each of the two categories. Each award should carry a cash prize of Rupees 75,000.00 plus a plaque / citation and travel expenses (Total Rs 1,00,000/-)


The nominees must be working in Indian organizations in the power sector including power utilities, academia, research institutes, equipment manufacturing industries, and developers of power system software/analytics. Nominators can be either IEEE Senior Members or Heads of Departments/ Divisions in Organizations. Please note that self-nominations are not allowed. The nominations shall be valid for current year only. However re-nominations are accepted. The nominee should not be a member of POWERGRID Governing Board or IEEE IC Executive Committee during the year of the award. The awards will be conferred on in the IEEE Flagship Conference, INDICON.

Field of specialization 8. Positions held earlier:(in reverse chronological order 8. Significant engineering contributions of the nominee in last 5 years not more than 500 words 9. Contributions to Engineering Design/Technology Development/Product Development/ Technology Transfer and Project Implementation (with proof-documents to be submitted as attachments, for joint work highlight nominee’s contributions)  10. Publications and granted patents details 11. Major Sponsored/Consultancy Projects completed 12. National/International Fellowship, Awards, Prizes received 13. Nominator’s Signature, Name , Designation and address, if IEEE senior member- IEEE  membership number). [The nominator must be either a senior member of IEEE or Head of Department/ Division in nominee’s Organization].
